Three-year-old pacing colt Greatest Ending will be racing in the 2022 Breeders Crown Final for new ownership this Saturday (Oct. 29) after the sophomore was sold on Monday (Oct. 24).
A stakes-winning son of Somebeachsomewhere from Lady Be Great, Greatest Ending finished a solid third on Saturday (Oct. 22) in his Breeders Crown elim for owner Reg Petitpas, driver Mark MacDonald and trainer Dr. Ian Moore. The colt was listed in a virtual auction prior to the race, with the auction closing on Monday. Diamond Creek's Adam Bowden signed the digital sales slip, with a final bid of $265,000US required to secure the speedy colt.
In 16 starts this year, Greatest Ending has amassed a summary of 4-3-2 with $253,657 in earnings and a mark of 1:50.3f taken in the Max C. Hempt Consolation at Pocono in August.
As per AGCO rules, Greatest Ending must be raced by his current trainer on Saturday night. Thus Moore will look to give Bowden a chance to fully recoup his investment in Greatest Ending as one of the 10 horses set to compete in the $600,000US Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Colt Pace Final. The post draw for that race will be conducted on Tuesday (Oct. 25) at a special evening event taking place at Country Heritage Park in Milton, Ont.
