Code Word blazed to the front with a :26-second opening quarter and never slowed down, capturing Tuesday’s $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows in a career-best 1:50.2

.

When Code Word battled three-wide for the lead in that sizzling first panel, it appeared that he might be vulnerable late. But the stalled first-over bid of Red Star Catch stacked up the outside flow, enabling Code Word and Tony Hall to open up and prevail by four lengths. The winner’s entrymate, Here We Go Again, was second while Tunearrific rallied for show.

Ron Burke trains Code Word, a four-year-old son of Western Terror-Numberone Treasure who now boasts $436,991 in lifetime earnings, for Burke Racing Stable, Frank Baldachino, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Larry Karr.

Brett Miller, Dave Palone and Burke each enjoyed a four-bagger on the 15-race card.
