Trainer-driver Nate Sobey sent Glimpseofgoodness for the front and held control with every step to take the $8,100 featured pace at Century Downs on Sunday (Oct. 24).
Sobey secured the top with the six-year-old Test Flight mare to a :28.3 first quarter and began to separate from the field after a :58.1 half. With pocket-sitter Flash A Smile losing ground to the backstretch, Glimpseofgoodness widened her advantage to six lengths as 8-5 favourite Tajmeallover swept first over out of fourth to take over second through three-quarters in 1:26. Tajmeallover cut into her deficit around the final turn but Glimpseofgoodness continued to battle on the lead, keeping the chalk at bay by a half length in 1:56.2. Outlawstormywether rallied to finish third and Outlaw Fireball finished fourth.
Co-owned by Sobey with Paul Davies, Glimpseofgoodness won her fifth race from 21 starts this season and her 18th from 97 overall, earning $117,881. She paid $17.60 to win.
