Driver Sylvain Filion dominated Wednesday's harness racing card at Georgian Downs scoring five wins, including a sweep of the first leg divisions of the Ontario Graduate Series for three-year-old male trotters.
Filion earned his first win on the card in the $15,000 opening division of the series with Corey Johnson trainee Tymal Oh So Nice ($7.30) going wire-to-wire in 1:56.4. He also won two more series splits with the front-stepping Hallucination ($3.40) in 1:57 for new trainer Richard Moreau and upsetter Noble Warrawee ($59.70) in 1:57.2 for conditioner Mark Steacy.
Filion's other Wednesday victories were first-time starter Marlee B ($3.10) for Rob Fellows and 20-time winner Kilted Pride ($4.20), another Moreau trainee.
Filion is Georgian's second-leading driver and ranks among Canada's top 10 reinsmen for both purses earned and accumulated wins. The resident of Milton, Ont. pushed his seasonal bankroll to nearly $6.67 million while his win count climbed to 332.
The filly series division winners were: Tyranny Seelster ($4.30) in 1:59.1 for Mario and Ben Baillargeon; Ivana Hanover ($10.10) in 1:56.2 for Aaron and Jeff Byron; and Phoenix Goal ($16.90) in 1:58.2 for driver and trainer Wayne Henry.
The Ontario Graduate Series, which continues for trotters next Halloween Wednesday night, is for three-year-olds that are Ontario sired and non-winners of $50,000 in 2012 as of October 1, 2012.
