'Pepercorn' Scores 'Summit' Three-Peat

Novadane Pepercorn racked up his third win in the Barrie Ford Summit Series for $6,000 claimers during the fourth leg to become the top-winning pacer of the series on Sunday night at Georgian Downs

In the first of four $5,400 fourth leg divisions, Novadane Pepercorn advanced first over from fourth after the half-mile mark and collared pacesetter You Gotta See This at the top of the stretch. He then held off the pocket-sitter Premium Bliss, a first leg winner, for the three-quarter length victory in 1:54.3.

The seven-year-old Intrepid Seelster gelding won his first two divisions and finished third in the third round while racing for trainer Peter Marostega and owner Tony Miceli of Mississauga, Ont. He was claimed by Morgan Green of Caledonia, Ont. and Herbert Martin of Oshweken, Ont. in the third leg and joined Curtis Bond's stable.

Other repeat winners during the fourth leg were: Rods Famous Ribs and Simon Allard in 1:54.2 (a first leg winner); and Blissed Out and Scott Coulter in 1:54.2 (a third leg winner).

Xlr Ray Shun King earned his first win of the series in 1:54.1 with Stephen Byron at the controls.
