As stated in a Globe & Mail article today, it has been commonplace over the past few years to regal the top performer in the three-year-old trotting colt and gelding division as the second coming. It is hard to argue against Muscle Hill's stats. It is also tough to go against the opinion of horseman Bill O'Donnell, who has been up behind his fair share of
champions.
“He’s the best I’ve ever seen,” O’Donnell was quoted as saying in regard to Muscle Hill, the phenomenal son of Muscles Yankee. “He’s the next thing to Mack Lobell.”
O'Donnell went on to say, “he’s so versatile. All those wins were impressive. Like the Hambletonian. He just walked around there, a mile in 1:50 (an all-age World-Record-equalling trotting time of 1:50.1). He’s just head and shoulders above them all.”
The colt will attempt to complete his three-year-old campaign in undefeated fashion Saturday night at Woodbine Racetrack, which will play host as the Greg Peck trainee's swan song in the $617,880 Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Colt Trot.
