Heading into the crucial Breeders Crown weekend, it's safe to say there's a brouhaha atop the 2025 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable leaderboard.
In harness racing, 'it all comes down to the Breeders Crown' ...in more ways than one. And boom! Just like that, once the weekend is over, a number of entrants could make major gains.
The lucrative championship finals slated for this Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25 at Woodbine Mohawk Park not only play a major role in the minds of voters for divisional honours, those 12 races also factor prominently in the standings for the 2025 TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable contest.
The TROT Fantasy Stable contest is based on total earnings of selected horses and five per cent of the earnings of selected trainers and drivers between May 23 and Dec. 31, 2025. For the purposes of the fantasy bankroll, the winners (horses only) of the 2025 Hambletonian and Breeders Crown finals each receive a $200,000 contest bankroll bonus.
There are more than 1,100 contestants looking for big weekends from their selections at Woodbine Mohawk Park, with Vance Cameron — the iconic voice of Red Shores Charlottetown and Summerside — on the engine and setting the pace over his rivals.
Cameron's 1717 Stable sports a total bankroll of $8,250,984 as of press time, and his weekend looks promising with five solid contenders poised to substantially add to that number over the weekend. His top Breeders Crown contenders include:
- Louprint, 6-5 favourite in the Three-Year-Old Colt Pace
- Periculum, the 5-2 second choice in the Open Trot
- Rodeo Drive Deo, the 5-1 fourth choice in the Three-Year-Old Filly Pace
- Yo Tillie, the 7-5 favourite in the Three-Year-Old Filly Trot
- Apex, the 7-5 favourite in the Two-Year-Old Colt Trot
While Cameron has the lead deep heading into the Fantasy Stable stretch drive, there are a number of close contenders with just $62,800 separating first from fourth.
