Six Straight For Lucky Jet

The winning streak is now six in a row and counting for Lucky Jet thanks to a determined performance against older rivals in Monday’s $15,000 Preferred Pace at Western Fair Raceway.

Lucky Jet, who captured the $100,000 OSS Grassroots Final at Grand River Raceway on September 29 for Team McNair, survived a first-over journey en route to winning for the 11th time this season and for the 12th time in his career.

Acceptable Risk (Paul MacKenzie) took the early lead and had the field lined up behind him when the opening quarter flashed up in :27.4. Lucky Jet, who landed in the four-hole in the early going, was on the move first-over as the field moved in front of the grandstand.

Lucky Jet was second on the rim for driver Doug McNair as Acceptable Risk threw down middle panels of :57.4 and 1:25.3, but Lucky Jet put away the breaking pacesetter and then fended off the backfield en route to a 1:55.1 tally. Harnessnitencanada (Trevor Henry) was 1-1/2 lengths behind the even-money favourite, with Roman Rocks (Nick Steward) sweeping from last to grab the show dough in the eight-horse affair.
