Race favourite Tipperbackjack stalked pacesetter Imacaroltoo and jet past in the final strides to nab a neck victory in the $1,000 Winners-Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday, Oct. 21.
The six-year-old Force Of Life stallion moved into the pocket as Imacaroltoo shot to the lead early. Past a :28.4 first quarter, Imacaroltoo faced slight first-over pressure from Windmeredontmatter heading to the half while Tipperbackjack raced alongside towards the rail. Through the half in :59.2 and three-quarters in 1:29.3, Imacaroltoo continued on the lead into the stretch until Tipperbackjack, angling out of the two hole, surged by late to win in 2:00.1. Imacaroltoo finished second while Bonnys Mac, riding the rail, finished four lengths back in third.
Onwed by driver Redmond Doucet, Tipperbackjack won his seventh race from 24 starts this season and his 13th from 67 overall, exceeding $10,000 in earnings. Lennan MacIsaac trains the $4.50 winner.
