Seizing an opportunity provided by the faltering favourite, Ms Wilma pulled off an 87-1 shocker in Tuesday’s late-closing series for freshman filly pacers at The Meadows. Doll Fins captured the other $12,500 second-leg split.

The championships of all four of the track’s current series for two-year-olds are set for Saturday, Nov. 1.

Allthatjazz De Vie had won four straight entering Tuesday’s action and was hammered down to 1-9, but she slowed inexplicably down the backside while on the lead. That was the opening Ms Wilma needed as she moved third over for Eric Neal and scored in 1:58.1 over a “good” surface. Fashion Blazer was a half length back in second, with Ladys Critic third.

Randy Neal trains the daughter of Quik Pulse Mindale-Wilma Hall for Neal Racing Stable and William Rugh. With no show wagering in the race, Ms Wilma returned $176.20 to win and $353.60 for a $2 win-place ticket.

Doll Fins moved first over from third for Brian Zendt and ground out her victory in 1:58, a neck better than Momas Got A Gun. Cantuhearmeknockn completed the ticket.

Janet Irvine conditions Doll Fins, a daughter of Sharky Spur-Western Six, for Joyce Wagner.

In the $18,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot, Cowgirl Hall blazed to an easy front-end score in 1:52.4, matching the track record for older mares that she already shared with Daylon Miracle. Call To Post was second, 7-1/2 lengths in arrears, while Redder Than Red earned show.

Dave Palone piloted the five-year-old daughter of Cash Hall-Centerfold Hall, who extended her career bankroll to $610,303, for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Jack Piatt III and Michael Rosenthal.

Palone drove five winners — three for Burke — on the 15-race card.
