Rebeka Bayama Delivers In WEG Preferred

Four-year-old pacing mare Rebeka Bayama delivered on her 4-5 pari-mutuel promise with a front-striding score in the $35,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace on Friday night at Woodbine Racetrack

Driven by Sylvain Filion, Post 3 starter Rebeka Bayama established the lead right from the word 'go' and cruised past panels of :27.2, :57 and 1:25.1 en route to the 1:52.1 one length triumph. Sweet Hedge (Luc Ouellette) launched a first over attack from fifth down the backstretch, but was only able to make it to the leader's wheel before fading to fifth. Mystical Victress (Jody Jamieson) followed in the pocket for second while Seriously (Scott Zeron) rallied home from third over to show.

The four-year-old daughter of Leader Bayama-Joyce Bayama, who has won three of her last four races, is trained by Justin Filion for owner-breeder Bayama Farms Inc. of Saint-Andre-D'Argenteuil, Que. She has banked over $62,000 of her $166,068 bankroll this year.

Rebeka Bayama paid $3.80 to win.
