Artful Dancer was a 1:52 winner in the featured $18,000 Fillies and Mares Open Tuesday (Oct. 20) at Harrington Raceway.
Trained by Josh Green, the Yankee Cruiser filly led most of the way and held off a game first-over challenge from Soho Burning Love A, who finished second, for her sixth win of the year. She was the only filly in the field. Apple Bottom Jeans sat in the pocket and finished third. Owned by Tammy Carter, Jay Mossberger, Rich Lombardo and Josh Green, it was the ninth win for Artful Dancer, who has enjoyed an impressive sophomore campaign, banking more than $197,000. Tony Morgan drove the $6.20 winner.
Trainer Jim King Jr. clinched the training title at the meet with two more wins to add to his meet-best total of 36. Joe Hundertpfund Jr. (24) and Chuck Crissman Jr. (24) are deadlocked to round out the top three.
Meanwhile, with just one night remaining in the 2020 meet, Allan Davis (63 wins) maintains the lead on Montrell Teague (58) and Art Stafford Jr. (54).
Tony Morgan had three wins on the card. Teague and Victor Kirby had a double.
