Lloyd Maclean trainee Brookdale Buster swooped from last to first to take the $1,510 Winners-Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Driver Andrew Maclean floated the eight-year-old Western Terror gelding to the rear of the quintet while Southwest Bliss paced to the first quarter in :29.2. Dream On Dream On pulled first over from third moving to a :59.4 half and pressured the pacesetter heading to three-quarters.
R Es Aiden grabbed cover heading past three-quarters in 1:30.1 as Maclean launched Brookdale Buster to the center of the track and blitzed the battling leaders rounding the final turn. Brookdale Buster seized command through the stretch to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths over R Es Aiden with Dream On Dream On third.
Owned by Julie Mac Pherson and Ryder Maclean, Brookdale Buster won his eighth race from 25 starts this season and his 23rd from 176 overall, earning $59,941. He paid $11.00 to win.
