Sitting on a pair of seconds, Tobins Future will try to go one better in Thursday evening's top pacing class at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital oval has a 12-dash presentation starting at 6 p.m., with the Grand Slam Of Curling Pace taking place in race 11 for a $2,900 purse.
Corey MacPherson will drive post two starter and morning line favourite Tobins Future in the fillies and mares conditioned-claiming pace for co-owner and trainer Jason Biggar and co-owner Robyn Wilson of Miscouche, P.E.I. The four-year-old daughter of Arthur Blue Chip has prevailed 11 times from 47 lifetime starts and was a runner-up her last two outings.
The ultra-consistent Woodmere Rollily has post five in the field of seven. She has recorded six wins, eight seconds and three thirds on the campaign for trainer/driver Adam Merner.
Lady Devine (David Dowling) is listed as the second choice at 3-1 odds for leading trainer Jennifer Doyle.
Also in the field are Topville Angelina (Gilles Barrieau), Redland Misspretty (Paul Langille), Dollys Sky (Kyle Desroche) and Rock The Baby (Marc Campbell).
The Post Time Picks goes a different route in settling for rail-sitter Topville Angelina to win at 4-1 in the morning line odds: “We loved the way Topville Angelina raced two back drafting all the way before reaching up for the narrow victory. It looks like a similar trip could be in the works so we’re putting her in the win column.”
The $3,450 Open Trot hits the track in race nine with Chasin Dreams (Merner) the top choice from post three for owner Elly Stafford of Conception Bay South, Nfld. Landon Campbell trains the nine-year-old son of Credit Winner. Other top entries include Irish Ray (Marc Campbell) and New Legacy (Jason Hughes).
Race four is the Clan Sinclair Association of Canada Pace. Georges Credit (Dowling) is the top pick from post two for owner/trainer Phil Kelly over post one starter Little Taggs (Merner) and Moonwriter (Keith Ford) from post three.
