Part Shark rebuffed all challengers en route to a 1:52.4 all-age track record performance in the second annual $75,000 City Of Greater Sudbury Pace at Sudbury Downs
on Saturday night.
Elimination winner Part Shark and driver Scott Coulter fired off the gate from Post 6 with Panda Bear (Anthony MacDonald) parked and pressing to the first quarter in :26.2 and the half in :54.1.
As Part Shark shook off that rival, Mr Coolie (Doug McNair) came charging three-wide and offered up another challenge past three-quarters in 1:23, but Part Shark dug in for the 1:52.4 triumph. Mr Coolie and Part Shark's stablemate, elim winner Secret Weapon (Gerry Belanger), finished just a half-length behind in second and third with Lookin For A Fight (David Dowling) right there in fourth.
The former Sudbury Downs track record of 1:54.1 was held by Anderlecht and Deuces And Jacks.
