Trainer Anette Lorentzon placed herself in some rare company on Thursday (October 17) by hitting the 1,000 win plateau.
Lorentzon becomes just the 16th female trainer in harness racing history to reach 1,000 career training wins.
The milestone win came courtesy a training double at Yonkers Raceway during its Thursday card of harness racing. After winning the fourth race with State Ofmyhead As, Jason Bartlett guided Lorentzon's Victoryisalluneed to a wire-to-wire win in the sixth race. The milestone win was even sweeter for Lorentzon as she also bred and owns Victoryisalluneed, a three-year-old filly by Lionhunter out of Enjoy Lavec mare Guilt Free.
In the midst of what could be a career year, the Swedish-born Lorentzon now sports 144 wins in 2019 (her personal best coming in 2018 with 154) with more than $2.7 million in seasonal earnings. A sizable chunk of that total comes courtesy stable star Guardian Angel As, who captured the 2019 Maple Leaf Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park among his seasonal conquests. He returns to action next Saturday (October 26) at Mohawk in the 2019 Breeders Crown Open Trot.
