Despite getting roughed up in the early stages of Tuesday’s featured $12,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Western Fair Raceway, Private Joke dug in and drew off to win in an impressive clocking of 1:54.4 for Team Baillargeon

.

Sent off as the 3-2 favourite in the seven-mare affair, Private Joke found herself fifth and parked at the quarter pole. Boomersbestbet was on top at that juncture in a :28-second clip, but it proved to be a short-lived lead. Misty Moonstone brushed past her, but she came under immediate attack by Private Joke. Those two sprinted past the mid-way point in :56.4 before Private Joke worked her way to the lead.

She was still in charge of the pace at the three-quarter marker in 1:25, and her :29.4 final frame was more than enough to post the one-length triumph over Mach Me Not in 1:54.4. Misty Moonstone held on to finish third.

Mario Baillargeon mapped out the winning trip for the Ben Baillargeon-trained four-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-San Sophia. Ben shares ownership on the mare with C Tremblay Holding Inc of Brossard, QC. It was the second consecutive score for the distaffer, who has racked up 10 wins and more than $118,000 in her career.
