Euchred led all the way to take the featured Winners Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 17).

Sent postward as the even-money favourite from the inside post, Euchred took command and carved out fractions of :29.1, :58.2 and 1:29 for driver Mark Pezzarello. Flushed first-up from third at the half, Daddy Let Me Drive (Rodney Gillis) advanced up to the leader's saddle pad down the backstretch then pocket-sitter Intended Royalty (Mark MacQuarrie) got room to angle out behind him three-wide turning for home, but it was all Euchred in the $2,150 featured finale as he cruised to a 1-1/2-length victory in 1:58 flat. Dan Dar Mal (Alex MacNeil) closed along the inside to nab the runner-up honours over Daddy Let Me Drive and Intended Royalty.

A career winner of 68 races, Euchred notched his fifth win of the season from 17 starts for local owner Kayla Habicht Walker.

Walter Walker trains the nine-year-old Shadow Play gelding and his stable enjoyed a successful Sunday as two-year-old pacing filly JJ Scarlett turned in a track record-setting victory in the $34,100 Maritime Breeders Stakes at Truro Raceway.
