Round two of the Autumn Series for two-year-old pacing fillies featured a set of $16,000 divisions Monday evening at Mohawk Racetrack, with Daenerys Hanover and Manhattan Play scoring in their respective assignments.

Daenerys Hanover got away next-to-last in her division, but Paul MacDonell rallied the daughter of Camluck-Dragon Moon to a 1:56 score.

Casino Classic and Sheer Talent, who captured the lone division in last week’s opening leg of the series, took turns on the lead through fractions of :29.1, :57.3 and 1:26.1. Daenerys Hanover, who was still sitting fifth as the field headed into the final quarter of the contest, uncorked a :28.3 closing kick en route to winning by a neck over Out Of Sight. Race favourite Sheer Talent faded to finish third.

Sean Mehlenbacher trains the three-time winner for John Mehlenbacher of Burlington, Ont. The filly bumped her bankroll to $35,620 with the triumph.

Manhattan Play disappointed as the favourite in last week’s opening leg assignment, but she was a dominant winner in Monday’s follow-up performance.

The daughter of Shadow Play-Panhattan shot to the top from Post 2 and knifed out fractions of :27.3, :57 and 1:26 before scooting home in :29.2 to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Ask For Me in 1:55.2. Third prize went to Sporty Gussie.

Bruno Comegna of Burlington, Ont. owns the freshman who posted her first win from nine trips postward. She went over $30,000 in earnings with the win.
