Belles Battle In Pace For The Cure

It was a big night for the fans at Northfield Park as it played host to the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park Pinktober “Pace For The Cure” Benefit for the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Northeast Ohio.

Nine female drivers took to the racetrack to put on a show for a packed house and they did not disappoint. When the gate swung open Tabatha Canarr sent Dragon Spike right to the top spot as Boxcar (Jayne Weller) and Timewell (Stephanie Huebner) followed in behind going up the backstretch. Canarr kept her foot on the gas pedal setting some very honest fractions and had to deal with Hannah Miller and Iwilldowhatido late in the mile. Canarr admitted that she was a little worried about Miller coming through the lane, but just got up at the wire.

Tonight’s Pace for the Cure was an extension of Pinktober being celebrated this entire month at the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park.

The ladies who participated in tonight’s race were Jayne Weller, Stephanie Huebner, Mary Birkhold, Casey Wolfe, Hannah Miller, Tabatha Canarr, Naquel Harvey, Rosy Weaver, and Rachel Kaneoka.

Northfield Park staff and management would like to thank each of these drivers, as well as the owners, trainers and grooms of each of their horses. Many people participated in this event to help bring awareness to breast cancer through harness racing.

As part of the Pinktober fundraising efforts, Northfield Park is making a donation on behalf of these nine drivers. The donation will support local cancer fighting efforts through the Susan G. Koman Foundation.
