It has been reported that during its regularly-scheduled meeting on October 7, North Saanich Council in BC ratified its approval for redevelopment of the 39-hectare plot of land that is home to the now-defunct Sandown Park Raceway.

The news comes courtesy of Victoria News. The article explains that the redevelopment will take place only after the developer, Omicron – which is owned by the Randall family – meets with the public.

The report states that Omicron plans on meeting with community groups and holding public meetings to get community input.

Under the deal, 33.6 hectares of the land would be transferred to the District of North Saanich. The Randall family would retain 4.85 hectares of land which would be re-zoned for commercial development, but not residential development.
