Windemere Best Man was the best man in the Winners Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday, Oct. 16 with a winning mile in 1:59.2 in the feature.
Redmond Doucet and Windemere Best Man pointed forward and never looked back. From the center of the wings, the Lanny Hanscombe student cleared the lead and controlled the clock with quarters in :29, :58.3 and 1:29.2. With a final quarter in :30, Windemere Best Man was able to coast home to win by 1-3/4 lengths. Spectrum Seelster (Walter Walker) finished second with Shir Gain (Rodney Gillis) third.
Simon Poirier and Chad MacDonnell co-own the Malicious-Art Blanche six-year-old gelding, who won for the third time this season and second straight race. In 98 starts, Windemere Best Man shows a record of 20-20-11. He paid $13.50 to win for the 6-1 upset.
