With the betting public firmly seated on his bandwagon, C L Art Magic extended his winning streak to six-in-a-row thanks to a front-stepping score in his $18,000 assignment Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack.
The photogenic performer, in rein to Sylvain Filion, got away second before rocketing to the lead shortly after New Miracle sliced out the opening quarter in :27.2. C L Art Magic cleared to the top without a tussle and rolled the field through middle panels of :57.1 and 1:25.4. A :28-second closing panel propelled him to the win by 5-1/4 lengths over Jake Loewen in 1:53.4. Corsica Hall came on late to nab third prize.
Stephane Larocque trains the four-year-old son of Artistic Fella-Mado Magic for Quebec partners Ecuries C Leblanc Inc of Saint-Eustache and Sebastien Girouard of Laval. The homebred is 6-for-6 to start the season after going 2-for-12 in his sophomore year. Thursday’s victory pushed his lifetime earnings over $40,000.
The Jackpot Hi 5 wager saw its carryover climb to $524,894.67 after multiple winning tickets were sold on the combination of 3-5-6-2-4 in Race 12 on Thursday evening. The winning payoff returned $1,083.20 for a $1-based wager.
