Fraser Downs Racetrack & Casino will host the Now Race for Babies, an annual event that raises money for the Surrey Food Bank's Tiny Bundles program, on Friday, October 25.
The Surrey Food Bank's Tiny Bundles program provides weekly food hampers to more than 200 pregnant women and mothers with children under the age of one. Eggs, milk, and baby formula for moms who can't nurse are just a few of the items in each hamper.
In 2012, 41 per cent of the food bank's 14,000 to 15,000 monthly recipients were children. With the purchase of a $50 ticket, guests can feast on a buffet dinner, snack on hors d'oeuvres and wash it all down with two beverages. The fundraiser also features live entertainment, a live and silent auction and a view of the racetrack.
The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and runs until the races end at Fraser Downs, located at 17755 60th Avenue.
Last year's event raised over $10,000.
