Stellar Seelster Tops FCYS Day 2

The second half of the Forest City Yearling Sale was held Sunday at the Western Fair Agriplex in London, Ont. and another Seelster Farms yearling topped the session

Seelster Farms' Nitro Seelster, selling as Hip 71, topped the first session on Saturday when he sold for $150,000. Sunday's session saw Stellar Seelster, Hip 176, bring in a $77,000 bid. The bay daughter of Rocknroll Hanover out of the Abercrombie mare Stylish Smile was purchased from the Seelster Farms consignment by Dustin Jones, agent for Ecurie Synergie of Campbellville, Ont. Stellar Seelster is a half-sister to $574,140 earner Style, who won the 2005 Robert Stewart Stake, Eternal Camnation, two Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Finals and was a runner-up in the Shes A Great Lady Stake.

Stonebridge Excite, Hip 180, was purchased for $62,000 by Gregg McNair of Guelph, Ont. Consigned by Stonebridge Farm, the bay daughter of Angus Hall is the third foal out of the Yankee Paco mare Stonebridge Lure -- a half-sister to the great Peaceful Way.

Macharoundtheclock, Hip 173, garnered a bid of $50,000 by agent David Menary of Cheltenham, Ont. The bay filly was purchased from the consignment of Preferred Equine Inc., acting as agent for Birnam Wood Farms of California. The daughter of Mach Three is out of the Artsplace mare Summer Souls and is a half-sister to 2010 Kentucky Sire Stakes champion Bestofbothworlds.

A total of 266 yearlings were sold over the course of the two-day sale for a $4,834,400, with an average price of $18,174. Pacing colts (93 sold) had the highest average price at $20,545, followed by trotting colts (45 sold) at $18,800, trotting fillies (49 sold) at $16,622 and pacing fillies (79 sold) at $15,990.

Stonebridge Farm had the best consignment average for three or more yearlings during the two-day sale with 17 yearlings selling for an average price of $35,941. Oak Knoll Stables sold six yearlings for an average price of $35,667 and Seelster Farms sold 49 yearlings for an average price of $26,494 to round out the top three.
