Taurus Dream Trotters Shine In Quebec

The Taurus Dreams took flight in today's $20,000 Serie Quebecoise de Retour finals at Hippodrome de Quebec

The events for Quebec-bred three-year-old trotting fillies and colts both were captured by offspring of the stallion.

In the filly final, favourite Rea Bayama led from start to finish for driver, trainer and owner Yves Filion, hitting the wire in 2:05.2 for a three-length score over 48-1 shots Canbec Henie (Jean Francois Maguire) and Lady Pierrette (Yvon Poirier).

In the final for colts and geldings, Herbie Drummond rallied from fourth for a six-length decision over Billy Le Bordelais (Andre Lachance) in 2:02.3 for trainer-driver Richard Veilleux. Th gelding is owned and bred by La Ferme Drummond Inc. of Saint-Hugues, Que.

The pacing events went to a pair of double winners in preliminary events, Sans Frontiere and Beach Runner A M.

Sans Frontiere, trained and driven by Marie-Claude Auger, advanced from seventh to collar pacesetter Zoes Turn (Marcel Barrieau) and prevail by a head in 1:58 in the $20,000 final for pacing fillies. It was the sixth career win for the House of Fun filly owned by Denise Auger of Trois-Rivieres, Que.

Beach Runner A M, a Beach Of Faith colt owned by Ferme Alain Martin of Trois-Rivieres, Que., kicked away to a four-length victory for driver Mario Charron in the $20,000 final for pacing colts, leaving Sambucca Mystic (Jacques Hebert) in his wake in a career-best 1:56.2. The time of the mile lowered Majo Just Do It's 1:57 sophomore colt track record and was just two-fifths of a second off the the overall sophomore male record, held by gelding Le Blitz. It was his fifth victory in seven career starts.

The $20,000 finals for Quebec-bred two-year-olds will be presented Sunday.
