Amillionpennies Rallies For Open Win

Amillionpennies used his powerful closing kick to circle the field and win the featured Open Pace on Saturday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

. The race carried the night’s top purse of $24,000.

Amillionpennies left from the outside post in a field of five at odds of 3-1, and sat in the back of the pack as Lucky Bettor set a hot early pace. On the backstretch, trainer/driver Matt Romano sent the five-year-old gelding to follow the cover of Donttellporkies. In the stretch, Amillionpennies powered right by the leaders to win by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:50.4. Mr Rightnow finished second while Lucky Bettor faded to third.

The win was the fourth in his last six races for Amillionpennies, sired by Million Dollar Cam, and it was his 19th career victory. With the winner’s share of the purse, his lifetime earnings now total over $242,000.
