For the second straight week it was Charmbo Brie using her come-from-behind skills to post a win in the Harvest Series for two-year-old pacing fillies at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Charmbo Brie rallied for a 1:54.2 score in last week’s opening leg of the series, and she used her late-closing speed to win in Monday’s second leg assignment in 1:58.1 for driver Mike Saftic.

Princess Layla set fractions of :28.1, :57.1 and 1:26.1, but she couldn’t fend off the late-driving Charmbo Brie. The rookies battled into a strong head wind in the closing strides, but Charmbo Brie had enough to win by a length over Princess Layla. Salutation was a well-beaten third.

The daughter of Betterthancheddar-Pretty Bo is a homebred owned and trained by Jack Rier of Kitchener, Ont. The victory improved her record to 3-2-0 from 12 trips to the track this season. The lion’s share of the $17,000 purse bumped her bankroll to $34,321.

Thats Incredible got picked off late in last week’s first leg assignment, but she couldn’t be caught in Monday’s follow-up performance.

Trevor Henry got away second with the Bob McIntosh trainee, but Henry had her on the move in the backstretch. After Twin B Tipster cut the quarter in :29.3, Henry brushed his charge to the top and cut out middle splits of :59.3 and 1:28.3. A :28.2 closing quarter propelled her to the win by 3-1/4 lengths over Twin B Tipster in 1:57. Erikas Shadow was third.

Robert McIntosh Stables Inc, C S X Stables and Dave Boyle share ownership on the homebred daughter of Bettors Delight-Somethinincredible. The victory gives her a freshman record of 2-2-0 from 10 trips postward. She racked up $25,538 in earnings to date.
