On Sunday (October 15), Atomic Million AM ($3.80) captured Hippodrome 3R’s featured event, the $5,000 Silver Invitational Pace, via a 2:02.4 mile that was recorded over a ‘sloppy’ track that was rated nine seconds slow.
The Silver Invitational Pace was carded as Race 8. Mister Big Top (driven by Stephane Gendron) went straight to the lead, while Beach Runner A M (driven by Pierre Luc Roy) nestled into the pocket before the opening quarter flashed to life in :29.
Atomic Million AM and driver Mario Charron then made a first-up move from fifth. They were overland in second at the 1:01.3 half-mile pole and had cleared to the lead before clicking off the three-quarters timer in 1:32.1.
Atomic Million AM was strong in the stretch and won by one and one-quarter length in 2:02.4. Mr Mach Jimmy (driven by Stephane Brosseau) finished second, while the lone mare in the field, Rainbow Palace (Francis Picard), finished third.
Atomic Million AM is now two-for-two since having come back to H3R. The victory was his third win of the year. Atomic Million AM is bred, owned and trained by Alain Martin of Gatineau. Atomic Million AM won the Quebec-Bred Series Finals at age two, three and four, and is one of only two horses to ever achieve the feat.
Live racing at H3R will resume next Sunday with first-race post time at 12:30 p.m.
