On Thursday, October 15 at Freehold Raceway, SS Poseidon rallied past Mountain Top to score a three-and-a-quarter-length victory in the $25,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes – Green Acres Final for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings.
Mountain Top, who had won the three preliminary legs of the Green Acres, cut the fractions, but SS Poseidon got up in the stretch to claim the win in 1:59.3. Both are sons of Muscle Hill. Switchblade Hall finished third by more than 13 lengths.
SS Poseidon, driven by Steve Smith and trained by Erv Miller, posted his fourth win of 2015 and has now finished in the money in 10 of 15 starts this year. Lifetime, he has seven wins, six seconds and five thirds from 28 starts. His $67,953 earned this year lifted his bankroll to $174,262 for Paymaq Racing of Long Grove, IL and Shim Racing LLC of Deerfield, IL. His breeders are Mary Jane Anderson and Shim Racing.
The event was a non-wagering race.
