Longshot, Ohio’s champion three-year-old gelding trotter this year, showed Friday that he’s pretty capable in Pennsylvania, too. The son of Long Tom-Tintern blazed to victory for Chris Lems in 1:52.2, fastest ever at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows by a sophomore gelding trotter.

Longshot sat patiently in third while Warrawee Whisper did the heavy lifting on the point, then attacked first-up near the three-quarters. Longshot downed his game rival by half a length in the $14,600 conditioned trot to lift his career bankroll to $316,760. The time knocked a tick from the previous mark established by Goes Down Smooth in 2019.

The fractions for the record mile were :27.4, :56.2, 1:23.4 and 1:52.2.

In Friday’s $19,300 Open Handicap Pace, nine-year-old millionaire Sintra rolled to his third straight win despite being forced to a :25.4 opening panel. The Mach Three-Dancin Barefoot gelding scored a front-end 1:49.4 triumph for Hunter Myers, trainer Tim Twaddle and owner Thestable Sintra Group. Sintra pushed his lifetime earnings north of $1.6 million. The first-over No Lou Zing was second, beaten half a length, with the pocket-sitting Wild Wild Western third.

Myers collected three wins on the 11-race card, including a pair for Twaddle.

Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Tuesday when the program features a pair of carryovers: $3,105.30 in the final-race Super Hi-5, $1,269.30 in the Jackpot Pick 5 (Race 4). First post is 12:45 p.m.
