Dreamfair Zenfire will try for the title she was denied in 2021 when she races on Monday (Oct. 17) in the 2022 Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series Final, presented by Standardbred Canada, at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Summerside has a 6 p.m. post time for the 12-dash card with the $14,517 Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares final lining up in the ninth race.
Dreamfair Zenfire is heavily favoured off the rail for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris. A nine-time winner in 2022, the daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip rides a four-race win streak into Monday’s contest. The mare was victorious in the 2020 Atlantic Aged Mares Final but was mowed down as the heavy favourite in 2021 by Woodmere Skyroller in a track record performance.
Acefortyfourdome was second in four of her last five races including a pair of times to Dreamfair Zenfire and gets post five in Monday’s final for trainer-driver Jason Hughes. The last time Dreamfair Zenfire was defeated was at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, N.B., by Vines To Heaven, who has post eight on Monday for driver Ken Murphy.
Completing the championship field are Ubettimagoodone (Dale Spence), Havarti (Paul Langille), JM Sportsfan (Steven Shepherd), Tobins Brownie (David Dowling) and Share The Moment (Gilles Barrieau).
The Backstretch Beat sides with Dreamfair Zenfire on top.
“There is no question Dreamfair Zenfire is the best pacing mare on the Eastern Seaboard and grabbing Post 1 at the draw makes her nearly unstoppable. She has already won nine races this season and we say she makes it 10 tonight.”
The overnight feature is in Race 11 with His Boy Elroy off the rail for driver Hughes, trainer Phil Sizer and owners Doug Polley of Nova Scotia and Gordon McComb of Ontario. The Jeremes Jet 10-year-old went off as the favourite in his latest start but settled for third in a race won by Woodmere Ideal Art, who is in competition in New Brunswick this week. Other top Monday evening entries include Screen Test (Corey MacPherson) and Boys Turn (Dowling).
