Samillion Dollars and Aisling took plenty of pari-mutuel support in their respective Preferred assignments Tuesday at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and they didn’t disappoint their backers.
The Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 went to Samillion Dollars and driver Donnie Rankin, Jr. in 1:57.1. The five-year-old daughter of Western Terror-Southeast was treated to a three-hold trip for most of the mile before finding clearance in the lane. She used a :30-second closing quarter to edge past pocket-sitting Rachel Olivia and the late-closing Rain Cloud Hanover.
Greg Price trains the distaffer for Amber Robinet of Wheatley, Ontario. It was just the second win of the season for the 14-time winner who pushed her lifetime earnings past $90,000 with the win. She paid $7.50.
Aisling, who was sent off as the even-money choice in the Preferred 3 for trotters, took over command shortly past the half and cruised to an easy win for the tandem of driver Trevor Henry and trainer Richard Moreau. The 10-year-old son of Conway Hall drew clear to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Lexus Hawkeye in 2:00.1. Third prize went to Heres The Magic.
Ecurie Richard Moreau Inc, Gabriel Moreau and Sam Angelopoulos own the gelding who now boasts a 4-5-7 record from 26 trips to the track this season. The 40-time winner has more than $660,000 in lifetime earnings.
