Now with two wins in a row, Rich N Ponderous — previously a maiden — has found her groove at Dayton Raceway. On Wednesday (Oct. 13) the daughter of The Ponderosa scored again in the featured $15,000 Hollywood Dayton Mini Series final for pacing fillies and mares.
The conditioned mini series, for non-winners of one pari-mutuel race or $10,000 lifetime, had a single qualifying leg before the top-five finishers in each division were invited back to compete in the final.
Driven by Kayne Kauffman, Rich N Ponderous left from post 8 with strength and speed. The three-year-old filly went straight to the front and never looked back. As the 8-5 second choice, Rich N Ponderous posted fractions in :28, :57, and 1:25.2 before stopping the clock in 1:55.2. Blue Riggin Girl finished second while Dt Pet Attack completed the trifecta.
Trained by Kim Dailey, Rich N Ponderous has tallied her only two wins in her last two starts in the conditioned mini series. This season alone, the filly has more than tripled her career earnings. With the latest victory, Rich N Ponderous has banked upwards of $30,000 lifetime. She is co-owned by her conditioner as well as Todd Woodruff of Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
Live racing will resume Thursday (Oct. 14) at Dayton Raceway with first post at 4:00 p.m. (EDT).
