A set of Preferred 3 events – one for trotters and one for filly and mare pacers – went postward Tuesday evening at Flamboro Downs, with Bastiano and Outlaw Imahotvixen winning their respective assignments.

Bastiano rolled to the lead from Post 6 for driver Dave Boughton in the $8,500 trotting feature, and that duo never looked back en route to posting the 8-1 upset.

Boughton chopped out fractions of :28.3, :59.1 and 1:28.1 with the gelding before using a :29.2 kicker to win by six lengths over Caviars Triumph in 1:57.3. Heineken Seelster took home third prize.

Shane Arsenault trains the six-year-old son of Angus Hall-Victorine L A for owner Bernie Bahr of Limehouse, Ont. It was the first win of the season from 14 attempts for the 18-time winner who has banked just shy of $120,000 in lifetime earnings.

Outlaw Imahotvixen won as she pleased in the $8,500 feature for the distaffers. Ed Hensley turned a two-hole trip into a 1:54.1 triumph with the Jodie Cullen trainee.

Hensley tracked Firebby A through fractions of :27.3, :56 and 1:24.2 before using a :29.3 closing quarter to post the win by three-quarters of a length over Firebby A. Manhattan Again rounded out the Trifecta ticket.

Sent off at odds of 2-1, the six-year-old daughter of Blue Burner-Fox Valley Cherish improved her 2020 record to 4-9-5 from 29 starts with the win. The 24-time winner is closing in on $250,000 in lifetime earnings for owners Jodie & Ron Cullen of Dundas, Ont.
