Sent the 8-5 favourite, Nates Bucky showed his authority over his competition when taking the $5,800 Preferred 4 Handicap Pace at Leamington Raceway on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Driver Tyler Borth protected position from the pylon post with Nates Bucky while Insincerity attempted to grab command from post 5 moving to a :28 opening quarter. But Insincerity sat parked rounding the second turn and gradually lost ground through middle fractions of :58.1 and 1:28. Insincerity gave way entering the final turn while Nates Bucky coasted into the stretch to finish one-and-a-half lengths in front of pocket-sitter Brother Aidan in a 1:58.3 mile. Oldfriendskentucky finished third.
A seven-year-old gelding by Armbro Deuce, Nates Bucky won his sixth race from 34 starts this season and his 15th from 81 overall, earning $76,536. Richard Moreau conditions the $5.30 winner for owner Andrew Baird.
