Machme To The Moon Tops Forest City Session

Machme To The Moon topped the first of two 2012 Forest City Yearling Sale sessions selling for a price of $85,000 on Saturday afternoon at the Western Fair Agriplex in London, Ont.

Machme To The Moon, Hip 49, was purchased from the Preferred Equine Inc. consignment by Dennis Searles of York, Ont. The Mach Three colt is out of the Rustler Hanover mare Carolina Moon, who is a half-sister to this year's Kin Pace champion Memumsnotnice ($152,260 - 1:53.3).

Nirvana Seelster, Hip 56, was purchased for $77,000 from the Seelster Farms consignment by agent David Menary of Cheltenham, Ont. The Camluck-No Strikes Against colt is a full-brother to last year's Forest City sale topper Nitro Seelster, who sold for $150,000. Their Western Hanover dam is a full-sister to Strike An Attitude ($998,898 - 1:48.4).

Rounding out the top three highest priced yearlings of the session is Tara Seelster, Hip 63. The Kadabra-Travelin Lavec filly was purchased for $75,000 from the Seelster Farms consignment by John Kopas of Milton, Ont. She is a half-sister to last year's Dream Of Glory champion Traverse Seelster ($266,801 - 1:53.2).

A total of 119 yearlings were sold for $1,802,500 on Day 1, resulting in an average price of $15,147. Last year, 123 yearlings were sold during the first session for $3,021,500, with the average price at $24,565.

The sale continues at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
