Raising Rachel and Federal Flex, who have both dealt with some adversity this season, finished first and second in today’s first qualifier. The John Kopas-trained Raising Rachel won the affair in 1:56 by a length over the Jeff Gillis-trained Federal Flex.
Raising Rachel made a break in her elimination of the Kentucky Futurity for fillies in Lexington on October 2, and she was a vet scratch due to sickness from a scheduled start in the Bluegrass Series on October 9. The three-year-old daughter of Yankee Glide-Raising The Bar has gone 3-for-10 this season while adding more than $450,000 to her overall bankroll which stands at $626,569.
Federal Flex made his first on-track effort in more than a month. The son of Muscles Yankee-Scully FBI finished sixth in a $142,153 division of the Simcoe Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack on September 5 after finishing ninth in the $1,520,333 Hambletonian at The Meadowlands on August 8.
A key equipment change was made to Isthatallyagot prior to her Monday morning qualifying assignment, and the OSS Gold Series winner responded with a 2:00 score for trainer James MacDonald. The rookie daughter of Southwind Lustre-Zorgwijk Davita kicked home in :28.4 to post the clean line and the winning effort. She had made breaks in two of her last three outings. The filly has put together a 2-2-2 record in eight starts this season while banking just shy of $100,000.
