Mydadsaid A won for the fourth time in his last six starts as he cut the mile en route to victory in the $25,714 Winners Over/Open Handicap Pace at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Saturday, Oct. 10.
The Jackie Greene trainee, with Jimmy Devaux at the controls, drew post seven in Saturday’s Open and powered up in the early going to secure the lead in an opening quarter of :27.1. Feeling no pressure on the front-end, Mydadsaid A got a middle-half breather of :56.4 and 1:26 fractions and held off late bids from last week’s Open winner Binge On Yankee (Kyle Swift) and pocket-sitter Red Blooded (Wally Hennessey) to score in 1:54. Binge On Yankee was second by three-quarters of a length, followed by Red Blooded.
The win was the sixth of the season in 21 tries for Mydadsaid A and his third Open victory in his last five starts. The favoured winner, a seven-year-old son of Sportswriter-Niki Diva, is owned by Kellogg Racing Stables LLC. Mydadsaid A returned $3.48 to win.
Live racing continues on Sunday at Saratoga with a first post time set for noon.
