American Risk Rolls In Truro Feature

Odds-on choice American Risk delivered his backers a dominant 1:55 performance to win the $2,000 Winners-Over Pace at Truro Raceway on Monday (Oct. 11).

The five-year-old American Ideal gelding grabbed the lead out of post 5 to click a :27.1 first quarter before snagging a breather to a :56.1 half. With the tempo still soft and a circuit to go, Imalookertoo mounted a first-over bid out of fourth and ranged near the leader’s wheel to three-quarters in 1:25.1. American Risk repelled that challenge to the final turn and held firm through the stretch to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Johnnywalkerdelux closing for second. Pocket-sitter Big Engine took third.

Owned by Risky Bizz Group, American Risk won his eighth race from 18 starts this season and his 15th from 57 overall, banking $74,007. Darren Crowe drove the $3.30 winner for trainer George Rennison.
