Anthony Napolitano remains the hottest driver at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono. On the Sunday (Oct. 11) twilight card, he dialled up his dominance with six victories, giving him 23 wins in the last five local cards.
Napolitano captured the trotting division of the $12,000 tri-features on the card with I Got The Looks, an even-money favourite who rallied past 47-1 shot Lazer Jet in the shadow of the line to win by a head in 1:54.2. Steve Brabrook trains the three-year-old E L Titan colt for the Wish Me Luck Stables LLC and Jonathan Lapp Jr.
Scootnroll, who opened his career with seven straight wins before losing to Billy Lincoln N in his previous start, got revenge on that rival when he took a new mark of 1:51 in the faster division of the pacing headliners. Tyler Buter moved the sophomore Roll With Joe gelding to the lead ahead of his rival in front of the stands, and the pair withstood Billy Lincoln's late inside rally by a length for trainer John Hallett and owners Rick and Geoffrey Howles.
In the other pacing feature, pacesetter Warrawee Veloce was headed by favorite So Many Roads in the stretch, but fought back bravely in the :55.2 last half to win by a head in 1:53. Simon Allard drove the three-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding for trainer Ron Burke and the partnership of the Burke Racing Stable LLC, Lawrence Karr, J&T Silva – Purnel & Libby and Dr. Michael Wilson. Allard took the last three races on the Pocono card, all with Burke trainees.
