Americanprimetime adapted favourably to the bright lights of the featured $16,000 Open Pace at Hollywood Dayton Raceway on Friday night (Oct. 10).
Despite a triple jump up in class following consecutive triumphs in a pair of condition races, the eight-year-old stallion by American Ideal went gate-to-wire to top nine other classy foes and claim the top prize at 8-1 odds.
Driver Jeremy Smith was resolute in his desire to dictate the pace from his inside post position, and got every call through fractions of :26.1, :54, 1:21.1 in progress to a 1:49.3 victory. Fellow longshot American Dreamer followed the winner every step of the way, but had to settle for the runnerup finish at 18-1. GD Western Joe rallied late to grab the show dough.
Americanprimetime paid $18.60 to win, the correct exacta returned $132.20, and the 50-cent trifecta kicked back $647.25.
The winner is owned by the Rock & Roll Stable of Chicago and trained by red hot trainer Ken Rucker.
