A big move on the way to the half proved to be the winning more for Bestulldotanite in Tuesday’s $7,500 Fillies & Preferred 3 for pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
With Paul MacKenzie at the helm, Bestulldotanite tucked into the three-hole early while race favourite Katherine B fired through early fractions of :28 and :57.3. MacKenzie had his charge in gear going to the half, and shortly thereafter Bestulldotanite was in control of the speed. She blazed her way past the three-quarter marker in 1:25.4 before coasting home in :31 en route to winning by 2-1/4 lengths over Insincerity in 1:56.4. Katherine B faded to finish third.
Ed Laybourne trains the seven-year-old daughter of Geartogear-Naomi Seelster for JJS Stables of Grand Valley, Ont. The homebred is 4-for-16 this season and 27-for-94 in her career. The lion’s share of Tuesday’s loot bumped her cash stash to $148,850.
