After making a break and finishing out of the money in this year’s Grassroots Championship for three-year-old pacing fillies, Gottalovemyshadow was back to work in Tuesday’s feature race at Mohawk Racetrack and she managed to rebound in a big way.

The daughter of Shadow Play-Gotta Love Her front-stepped to a 1:53.3 victory for trainer/driver Jack Moiseyev, and in doing so she pushed her seasonal earnings over $60,000.

Moiseyev got away second with Gottalovemyshadow, allowing longshot Kloof Street to chop out the opening quarter in :27.3. Moiseyev roused the favourite from the pocket spot as the field hit the backstretch, and in a matter of strides Gottalovemyshadow became the new leader.

She rolled the field through middle panels of :57.1 and 1:25.3 before using a :28-second closing panel to seal the deal. She won by 1-3/4 lengths over C Mary in 1:53.3. Taking home third prize in the $18,000 affair was Fading Shadow.

Joanne Colville, Nancy MacNevin and Emma Christoforou share ownership on the sophomore who now boasts a 4-5-2 record from 16 attempts this season.
