Flora Dream held off Chinnys Wings to win the $14,000 Preferred 2 Trot for the second consecutive week on Saturday night at Georgian Downs.

Logan Aas (Scott Coulter) fired to the lead from Post 7 while Stephen Byron settled Flora Dream into fourth after leaving from the outside position. Logan Aas reached the first quarter in :28 and half in :57.3 with 3-2 favourite Chinnys Wings (Doug Bowins) following in the pocket before Flora Dream came knocking at the door. The six-year-old daughter of Taurus Dream-Klelia, the only mare in the field of eight, took control before the 1:26 third quarter mark and held off Chinnys Wings by a half-length for the 1:55.3 score. Mr Tasty (Mike Langdon) came on for third.

Despite winning last week’s event, Flora Dream was sent postward as the 8-1 fifth choice and returned $19.90 to her backers. The David Menary trainee notched her sixth win in 19 starts this season and pushed her earnings to $53,790 for owners Leo Tourigny of Becancour, Que. and Lapharmaciedekedgwick Inc. of Kedgwick, N.B. The winner of 20 races lifetime now boasts $273,638 in career earnings.
