The Thursday, Oct. 2 program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park is headlined by the Open Trot in Race 10, with $4,000 at stake.
The top-class trotters line up for the evening’s marquee event in the finale with Buckhead Ridge the morning-line favourite at 5-2 from post seven. Marc Campbell will drive the gelding, a 19-time winner in 55 career starts, for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Brady Doyle of Stratford, P.E.I. The five-year-old son of Nuncio-Tuonela has been in career form this season with 14 wins in 18 starts on the Island.
Fight Song is the 3-1 second choice from post eight for trainer Ashley Gamester and driver Jason Hughes. The six-year-old Kadabra-Fortunes Of Fables gelding comes into the clash looking to rebound from a fourth-place finish following a series of sharp efforts.
Helpfull Princess (Ambyr Campbell) has been knocking on the door in recent weeks and gets post four for trainer Luke Burke.
Also in the mix are Glider Man (Ken Murphy), Rocket Blast (Corey MacPherson), Labero (Gilles Barrieau), Majian Salsa (Jim Ripley), and Ripped And Ready (Brett Clow).
The Post Time Picks goes with Buckhead Ridge on top: “Campbell didn’t wait long last week going to the lead, and Buckhead Ridge was a drawing-away winner from post six. He’s back on the grandstand side, but we’re confident Marc will map out a trip, so get ready for win number 15 on the season.”
The card also features the $2,800 National Electrical Trade Council Pace for fillies and mares in the fifth race. Sensational Gal has been installed as the 5-2 morning-line favourite for trainer Nicholas Oakes, owner JD Racing Inc. of Cornwall, P.E.I., and driver Barrieau from post two. The four-year-old daughter of Rollwithitharry-Quick Decision has five foes, including Hosskat (Marc Campbell) as the 3-1 second choice on the morning line.
The Thursday card has a 6 p.m. opening post time.
