Beau Jangles topped $1 million in earnings, pushed his unbeaten streak to nine and swept all five Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold events with a victory on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in the lone $140,000 fifth-leg dash for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Starting from the inside, Bob McClure had Beau Jangles on top after the quarter in :27.1, rated him to middle fractions of :56 and 1:23.3, and the colt cruised from there to a three-length win in 1:50.2 over No Waitlist (Tyler Borth). Tilthecowscomehome (Jody Jamieson) was third.

His latest Gold victory came 10 days after the son of Cattlewash-Mrs Major Hill won the $1 million Metro Pace. Beau Jangles now sports earnings of $1,042,125 for the ownership group of Graham Grace Stables of Clifton, Va., Kiwi Stables of La Plata, Md., and Bolton Stables of Clermont, Fla. Bred by Tara Hills Stud, where Cattlewash stands, Beau Jangles is trained by Dr. Ian Moore.

Sent off at 1-9 in the field of eight, Beau Jangles paid $2.10.

Up next for Beau Jangles is the OSS Super Final on Oct. 10 at Mohawk.

“The Super Final will be his 10 starts for him and that’s usually my milestone for two-year-olds,” Moore told Woodbine broadcaster John Rallis when asked if the colt will be pointed to the Breeders Crown. “But, they’re all different and they all handle things differently. So, we’ll just see how it goes.”

The win completed a driving sweep of the night's Gold events for McClure. His first stakes victory came with P L Spencer in the lone $140,000 OSS Gold Leg 5 event for three-year-old trotting colts.

P L Spencer started from post seven and initially swooped to the top in a :28.2 first panel but gave way to LMC Wagon Wheel (Borth) before re-taking prior to the half in :57.4. He led through three-quarters in 1:26.1, kicked away in the stretch and cruised to victory over LMC Wagon Wheel by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:53.1. Day (Louis-Philippe Roy) was third.

The win was the third Gold triumph of the year for the son of Resolve-P L Indyanaca. He is owned by his trainer Steve Bossence of London, Ont., along with Richard Thompson of London, Derek Reid of Etobicoke, Ont., and E C S Racing of Rockford, Ont. Bred by Prince Lee Acres, P L Spencer now has lifetime earnings of $387,681 and is 10-4-0 in 19 career outings. He is nine-for-15 this year.

Sent off at 1-5, P L Spencer paid $2.40.

In the $140,000 OSS Gold Leg 5 event for three-year-old trotting fillies, McClure drove Stormont Beautiful to a dominant 7-1/2-length score.

The filly was seventh to the quarter in :26 in a field strung out by a pair of early breakers. The group condensed before the half in :56.1 and McClure put his charge into play third-over on the final turn before tipping her three-high past three-quarters in 1:24.4. Sixth at the top of the lane, Stormont Beautiful exploded down the middle of the track and rolled to victory with a :26.2 final quarter, stopping the clock in 1:52.2. Longshot Roxie Hart (Mario Baillargeon) surged for place over Bright Green (Roy).

The homebred daughter of Resolve-Stormont Fried earned her first Gold win for owner Stormont Meadows of Long Sault, Ont. The Kevin Benn trainee is now 7-6-2 in 20 career outings. The win increased Stormont Beautiful’s bankroll to $262,883 lifetime.

Sent off at 3-2, Stormont Beautiful paid $5.10 to win.

Two-time Breeders Crown champion Amigo Volo moved closer to triple-millionaire status in the overnight feature as the eight-year-old captured the $40,000 Open Trot.

He strolled out from post five for James MacDonald, slotting in behind Fashion Frenzie (J.R. Plante) and sat the pocket through :27, :55.2 and 1:23.3 fractions. Amigo Volo launched off the cones turning for home and, under confident handling from MacDonald, rolled past Fashion Frenzie down the lane to win by two lengths in 1:50.4. Gaines Hanover (McClure) was third.

Amigo Volo notched his 48th career win while raising his earnings to $2,882,323 in 133 starts. Meg Crone trains the classy veteran for Pinske Stables of Plato, Minn. and David Miller of Lake Mary, Fla.

The gelding's win price was $7.80.
