Being sent off as the longest shot on the board in Thursday’s $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 for pacers at Flamboro Downs apparently didn’t set well with Amethyst Seelster.
She turned the pari-mutuel snub into a down-the-road score in 1:54.3 for the tandem of driver Jason Ryan and trainer Dolores Basilone.
Ryan hustled Amethyst Seelster right to the lead from Post 2 and together the sliced out splits of :28.2, :57.4 and 1:25.4 before using a :28.4 kicker to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Dazzling Rockette. Tables Big Secret rounded out the Trifecta ticket.
Sent off at odds of 21-1, the five-year-old daughter of Artistic Fella-Atlantic Seelster won for the 14th time in her career while pushing her bankroll over $70,000 for owner Robert Markus of Clearwater, FL.
