Feed Company Fined After Investigation

It has been reported that the State of Florida has fined feed company Lakeland Animal Nutrition $4,000 in connection to a tainted-feed situation that has resulted in 22 equine being poisoned and 11 losing their lives.

News of the fines have come via an article on CBS Miami which states that 11 horses at Masterpiece Equestrian Center, located in Davie, has lost their lives since last October.

According to the report, Lakeland Animal Nutrition was fined the maximum $1,000 for four violations. Two of the violations were for adulterating and misbranding commercial equine feed, while the other two violations were for the distribution of adulterated feed. The violations came after an investigation by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

The article also states that Lakeland Animal Nutrition settled with the Masterpiece Equestrian Center and the owner of 20 horses this past December.
