Favourite Foolish Mind wore down the pacesetting Andro Madi to deliver on her pari-mutuel promise in the $6,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 on Wednesday night at Flamboro Downs.
Making her first start of the year, Foolish Mind began the first over attack from third nearing the half-mile mark and gained the upper hand at the top of the stretch en route to a 2:01.1 triumph over the track rated 'good' with a two second variant. Ideal Odds (Bruce Richardson) slipped up the passing lane to finish three-quarters of a length behind in second while a from-last Jet Hot Stuff (Scott Coulter) rallied wide to show over Andro Madi (Anthony MacDonald).
Foolish Mind, who was a winner in her last Flamboro Downs start on Boxing Day in the same class, paid $4.20 to her backers for her return appearance.
Sue Marie Gangell trains and co-owns the daughter of I Am A Fool with Barry Charles.
The four-year-old mare earned five of her eight career wins last year.
